About Westchester

Westchester Real Estate

Westchester County, founded in 1683 is  located in the Hudson River Valley and is one of the most picturesque and historic areas of the country.  Located just north of New York City it borders  Connecticut to the east and Putnam County to the north.   It has become the home of many famous historians, authors and celebrities, including President and Mrs. Clinton.

With a population of one million residents, the 450-square-mile county is a mix of cities, towns and villages that have become a popular suburb for the bordering New York City. Despite its proximity to the city, Westchester has retained much of its rural character with rolling hills, parks, historic sites, museums and golf courses. Westchester also offers the famous Rye Playland Park, Kensico Dam Plaza, Westchester Broadway Theater, the Capitol Theater, Philipsburgh Manor, Untermeyer Park and Sleepy Hollow.

With the Long Island Sound on the southeast and the Hudson River on the west, the county has a wealth of outdoor activities, from hiking and bike trails, to bird-watching to fishing and sailing on the waterfront and the Hudson River.  In addition, the county provides a number of parks, shopping malls and top rated schools.

Westchester offers an excellent commute to New York City via the Metro-North commuter rail lines, a series of parkways and the New York State Thruway.
